Richard Parkes Bonington
(born Oct. 25, 1802, Arnold, Eng. — died Sept. 23, 1828, London) British painter active in France. In 1818 he went to Paris to study with Antoine-Jean Gros. His skill in watercolour, a novelty in Paris, attracted many imitators. He exhibited at the famous “English” Salon of 1824 and won a gold medal. With John Constable and J.M.W. Turner, he popularized the oil sketch, a rapidly executed record of the transitory effects of nature. He became influential in England and France as a master of the Romantic movement and a technical innovator. His death at age 26 cut short a brilliant career

Khan Asaad Basha in damascus …
This is the largest Khan in Damascus, built in the 19th century, it features the alternating black and white stone architecture so familiar in Damascus, great vaulted domes, a center piece fountain, etc. Overall, its a very impressive place. And here is the bonus: it is now an art museum / cafe, making it one of the few places in the souk where you can get away from the crowds and sit down and have a coffee or tea. This little oasis is on one of the streets running north and south, connecting the Hamidiya Souk with Medhat Pasha street, just south of the Azem Palace.

Michael Triegel the new icon in art
Michael Triegel (*1968) is among the most important representatives of the New Leipzig School. Along with landscape sketches, still lifes and portraits, it is principally mythological and religious subjects that bear witness to his very individual, multi-faceted idiom in the style of the great masters of the Italian Renaissance.
Born in Erfurt and a graduate of the College of Graphics and Book Art in Leipzig,

Metamorphosis of the Gods
